Everest and The Hartford confirmed as Full BU Members
Everest and The Hartford have been voted in as BU members in full standing, having completed two years as Observers
Both members joined the BU following the 2021 AGM in Budapest and have been actively engaged in the community since, regularly contributing to research, sharing information and leading discussions at both General and Technical meetings.
In 2023, Everest and The Hartford co-hosted the 2023 Reinsurance Specialist Meeting in Washington DC this September, along with VANTAGE and EVEREST have also now joined the Berne Union's Management Committee as a rotating representative of the MLT Committee.
BU Secretary General, Paul Heaney comments:
"It is fantastic to confirm the full membership status of Everest and The Hartford. Over the past two years, Jim, Jared and colleagues have made themselves an integral part of the MLT Committee and the BU community, bringing thoughtful ideas, and leading examples which help to enrichen our discussions. I'm looking forward to further developing the BU with their support."
Comment from Jim Thomas, Global Head of Credit and Political Risk at Everest
“Everest is grateful for the Berne Union members’ support in the Full Membership vote and we’re excited to continue our involvement in the Berne Union’s activities for many years to come. I also look forward to representing Everest, as well as the interests of the entire BU membership, in the Management Committee.”
Comment from: Jared Kotler, Global Head of Credit and Political Risks at The Hartford
“The Hartford is excited to keep partnering with the Berne Union and its members in its goal of promoting trade and investment around the world. Given the financing gaps that exist in developing countries, we know it is extremely important for providers of credit and political risk insurance to share knowledge, create new ideas/products and advocate for a business environment that is conducive to filling those gaps. The Hartford, as Full Members, is committed to helping Berne Union continue to be a tireless advocate in helping its members support these goals.”
