We're very excited to invite you to the Young Professionals Technical Webinar of the year on Friday 21st July at 12pm UK time
Please note this Webinar is for members of the YP Initiative only. If you're not yet a member but would like to join us, please email Emily Kate Gray: ekgray@berneunion.org
The Berne Union Young Professionals Core Group is excited to announce its upcoming webinar on July 21st, entitled "The modernization of the OECD Consensus: A glimpse into the engine room of international policy making".
When the modernized OECD Arrangement on Officially Supported Export Credits ('Consensus') will enter into force on 15th of July, it will not only be a game changer for the future of global export credit support - it will also tell the story of how 11 of the biggest global policy players, including the United States and the European Union, gathered around one table to try and adjust their set of export credit rules to the challenges of the 21st century.
The expert we were able to win for our Webinar has been at the forefront of this process from the very beginning: As Chairman of the Arrangement Participants, Pekka Karkovirta has been a key contributor in paving the way for compromise in an arena full of divergent political interests and complex technical challenges.
What are we to expect from the modernized Arrangement? How will it play out for ECAs and private insurers worldwide? What does the modernization teach us about striking a deal in international negotiations? Is the modernization mostly a technical achievement by export finance specialists? Or do the Front-Page-developments in international politics shine through? And, quite simply, how do I become Chair(wo)man?
Please join us on 21st July to learn first-hand from Pekka about all of the above and take this unique opportunity to ask him your questions about the development of the Arrangement, his insights into international policy making and his personal career journey.
